Hello everyone,
My name is Indie Swal. My husband and I have been talking about starting our own business for years. We have both have corporate experience but not do-it-yourself type experience or knowledge. It seems that starting an online business is one of the best options out there.
So, here I am. I look forward to learning from everyone on the forum,

Hi Indie and welcome 
Pull up a chair that is cozy and start reading. This is where I started at and have learned over 90% of what I know in my business.
I of course do agree a online business is a good option, however make sure you don't mistaken good with easy. Just as with a off line biz, you will have to put in many hours and learn all kinds of different skills

If you have corporate experience, then you are certainly aware of the reality of business, whether online, or traditional brick & mortar.
Word of warning. Watch out for most (not many, but most) of these online businesses. There are a tremendous amount of scams that do exist, many of which don't, and never have paid a dime to anyone. HYIPS (High yield investment portfolios) have done a lot of damage as well. Simply put...If it sounds to good to be true, run. You won't make X#$$$ in a week/day/month. It will take a lot of time, and research. If you haven't found a "good business" to integrate into your field of expertise, there is a massive amount of information to be had in forums such as these, however, be very diligent in researching "ads" that you see in forums such as these.
I would suggest letting some people know your areas of expertise (sales / management / marketing / design accounting...whatever)...they might have some solid ideas on what areas you may fit. Beware of those trying to fit you into a specific program however...

if you plan to start a business online you should do your homework before starting it and go through all the facts and costs.
Facts: what am i offering to people? do i have small or big competition? will i actually make profit from it? who are my likely clients and how can they find me? ( this is where seo comes in handy)
Costs:domain,good hosting,merchant account,shopping cart,PPC and SEO (could hire someone or do yourself option)

It is often easier to expand an existing business into an online presence than to start a whole new business online. Such a new business has no brand recognition, and nowhere to hide from failure should online traffic/sales not grow quick enough.
